Project Description

Eamonn Fitzgerald is Chief Executive of the Hermitage Medical Clinic (‘HMC’) serving a local, regional and national population across a broad spectrum of specialised medical and surgical care programs. The hospital is an affiliated teaching hospital of RCSI and TCD. HMC has been a Joint Commission International Accredited hospital since 2008. HMC has recently been awarded Gold Standard award status by Planetree International, which certifies hospitals that demonstrate a demonstrable focus on person centred care in the organization and delivery of patient care.

He is currently the Chair of the Private Hospitals Association, which represents 19 accredited hospitals in the independent/private sector in Ireland. Eamonn is also an adjunct faculty member of the Institute of Leadership at the RCSI.

Eamonn is the member of the Board of Governors of HOPE (European Hospital and Healthcare Federation). The HOPE mission is to promote improvements in health of citizens throughout Europe, high standards of hospital care and foster efficiency and humanity in the organisation and operation of hospital healthcare services.

He has also served as a board director of I360 Medical which is a health technology innovation, IP, development and commercialisation company, pipe lined by managing Ideation programs within international Health and Hospital Systems.

Eamonn has been a Board member of the Dublin Clinical Centre for Research (‘DCCR’) and ARCH (Applied Research in Connected Health) which was set up as an Enterprise Ireland, UCD in industry consortium technology centre (CTC), focusing on improving the integration of patient care via digital platforms.

Previously Eamonn has worked as a Consultant to the International Unit of Public Administration delivering consulting programs in a variety of DGs (directorates, general/EU administrations) in the European Commission as well as overseas work in South Africa.

Eamonn has a Master’s Degree in Business Studies, specialising in Management and Organisation Systems from the Michael Smurfit Graduate School, UCD. He also holds a Master’s of Science in Economics from Trinity College, Dublin. Eamonn is also a graduate of the University College Cork in Social Studies and Social Work.
